Associate VP Total Rewards and HR Operations - 196694

Summary: Reporting directly to the Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (VP/CHRO), the Associate Vice President, Total Rewards and HR Operations will be responsible for leading comprehensive strategy for the University’s Total Rewards programs and initiatives in support of Pace University's objectives and in alignment with the goal of attracting and retaining top talent. The Associate Vice President will serve as a member of the CHRO’s leadership team partnering with the Associate Vice President of Talent Management and Organizational Effectiveness and other senior leaders in the division in developing strategy and meeting the goals, targets, and mission of the HR Division. The Associate Vice President has direct oversight and responsibility over the areas of Compensation & HR Data Management, HRIS, Health & Retirement Benefits Administration and Compliance.
This role will design compelling and equitable compensation programs and negotiate and manage affordable quality health benefits policies and practices, insurance programs, retirement plans, drive annual planning, and oversee people & compensation analytics. The Associate Vice President will have responsibility over HR Operations that include oversight of the HCM platform – UKG Ready; HR jobs data, analytics and reporting including, but not limited to, the timely submission of IPEDS data and other regulatory reporting requirements by working collaboratively with Payroll, HRIS, Institutional Research, Budget, and other related areas.

Duties:

Benefits and Compliance:

  • Partner with Leadership, Finance and HR teams to proactively identify opportunities, drive initiatives and use an innovative approach to ensure our total rewards and practices are competitive, cost effective and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with VP/CHRO, Finance department and other appropriate stakeholders on incentives, annual performance targets and benefits budget.
  • Continuously evaluate strategically the effectiveness of total rewards programs to ensure alignment with our business and talent strategies and quickly monitor market trends to make recommendations for changes. Ensure and validate regulatory compliance of programs including retirement health, welfare, wellness, salaries, vendor contracts, incentives, and other rewards programs. Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership to build innovative and equitable total rewards programs and maximize effectiveness of the total rewards strategies.
  • In close collaboration with the Senior Director of HR Strategy and Budget, plan, develop and implement health and wellness initiatives for employees that are closely aligned with claims data.
  • Oversees the areas of compliance and reporting, working closely with the Associate Director of Compliance to ensure timely responses to external and internal audits.
  • Oversight of the management of the benefits vendor relationships, benefits contracts, and bid negotiations. Oversee the planning, development, implementation, communication, and evaluation of all benefits programs, including health, retirement, life, and disability programs.

HRIS and HR Data Management

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for HRIS initiatives, including system enhancements, integrations, and upgrades. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across HRIS platforms. Oversee the HRIS team to ensure accurate processing in compliance with laws and evolving HR processes, technologies, and workflows.
  • Oversee the development of UKG Ready data analytics and reporting platform that provides accurate reports that informs leadership and the Board of Trustees on compensation and total rewards trends in the University.

Compensation

  • Oversee the planning, development, implementation, communication, and evaluation of all compensation programs, including salary structure, merit planning and delivery, executive compensation, and market alignment. Serve as the university lead on the Compensation/Benchmarking study and partner with the consultants to lead the communication and implementation of the recommendations from the study.
  • Gather and present compensation data in relation to union requests and other general requests from leadership and other stakeholders and partner with the HR team regarding compensation matters during negotiations for unionized employees.

Other Duties:

  • Serves as a member of the Staff Affairs Subcommittee, Investment and Pension Committee that reports to the Pace University Board of Trustees. Represent HR at the Finance and Audit Committee as required.
  • Performs other such duties as assigned.

Direct Supervision: Associate Director, Benefits, Associate Director, Compliance and Reporting, Associate Director, Compensation and Director, HRIS.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. CCP/CCB/CEEBS, or other related HR certification preferred.
  • At least 7 years in Human Resources or a similarly related field leading teams and demonstrating progressive knowledge and experience in Compensation and Benefits. Experience with HRIS administration preferred.
  • Experience designing and implementing system level Total Rewards programs.
  • Strong management experience preferred with demonstrated ability to lead and supervise diverse teams.
  • Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills to all organizational levels. Proven ability to draft reports, policies, and memorandums.
  • Experience with reviewing and amending benefit plans.
  • Experience working directly with Board of Trustees, Board committees and senior leadership preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to lead multiple, competing priorities.

Work Hours: Monday – Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; additional hours as necessary. Hybrid position with primary location at the Valhalla, NY Campus. Travel to all campuses – NYC, Pleasantville, and White Plains as needed.

Salary Range: $165k -$180k commensurate with experience
